I was born in Loudon County, Tennessee. As a young girl, I always carried a bag of items to keep myself and others occupied (books, toys, crayons, etc.). I graduated from Jefferson County High School with the intent of going to college and working with children.  I worked as a Nanny of 2 amazing boys while I attended Walter State Community College, obtaining my AS in Elementary Education. I went on to finish my education at the University of Tennessee, where I met my husband, Matt McCuiston. We moved to Gatlinburg after we graduated and got married (in that order) and I began working in the beautiful Pittman Center community as a teacher in a small, rural K-8 school. After we had our first child, Macy, we moved back to Matt's hometown Dayton, Tennessee to be surrounded by family. I began working at North Hamilton County Elementary in Sale Creek, Tennessee another close-knit community school. Eight years after our first daughter was born, we welcomed another healthy baby girl named Laurel. It has been a treat to have my daughters attend school with me and be educated by some of the best teachers and colleagues at NHCE. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading and working with children. The beach is my happy place, I enjoy the tranquil waves and soft sand while the sun warms my soul from the inside out.  As a professional educator, I believe the journey of learning is just as important as the outcome. Therefore I enjoy challenging students to problem solve and engage in critical thinking, promoting curiosity and creating life-long learners.
